Close corporations do not need to issue share certificates. The ownership of the business is shown as member’s contribution on the CK2 document of the close corporation. The CK2 is the document that is issued by CIPC when the close corporation was registered or when amendments are made at CIPC.
Non profit companies
Non profit companies are not allowed to issue share certificates. As per the companies act of South Africa, 71 of 2008, the money received by a non profit company can’t distribute funds received to the directors or incorporators. Therefore it can’t issue share certificates.
