What is an employer reconciliation?

The employer reconciliation, or PAYE recon as it is known, is the process where the monthly PAYE deducted from employees are reconciled with the amounts paid over to SARS. This is to ensure that the correct amounts are paid over to SARS. IRP5’s are also issued during this process. These IRP5’s are then used by the employees to submit their personal tax.

This reconciliation has to be submitted to SARS before 31 May 2023. Failure to submit will result in admin penalties being issued.

Please note!

In order to submit a PAYE recon, your company has to have a public officer appointed at SARS in order to access the tax type. If your company does not have a public officer, an additional charge will be charged for this service. It is advisable to get the process going as soon as possible, as the appointment of a public officer can take up to 21 working days.
