Provisional Tax

All companies with a February year end have to submit an IRP6 to SARS before 31 August 2022. Sole proprietors also have to submit a provisional tax return.

The figures submitted has to be based on the period 1 March 2022 to 31 August 2022. It is very important that the figures submitted be as close as possible to the actual figures, or the last assessed tax year of the company. If this is not the case, SARS will impose penalties for understating the tax of the company.

Do I have to submit an IRP6 if my company is dormant?

Yes, even if the company has not traded, it still has to submit a return. Failure to submit a return will result in SARS imposing penalties for non compliance.
